Wart snake
Hey, i have this javanicus snake right now and i don't know too much about it's average expected behavior. It weighs 6.7lbs and is in a 22g tank, It folds up and eats well and is very shy, but it doesn't move as much as i thought it would. The temps right and i use a viamin supplement ,so? Do any water snake enthusiastics know if this nothing to ponder over or should i try some tactics to get him it to move around.

This is the first time have heard of this snake.
The site I looked at stated they were non-venoumous... but could they be rear fanged? Nonetheless.... tehy are a wild looking snake.
here is a link...

A cool snake nonetheless

You say that your temps are right, could you elaborate? What length? The weight does not tell me much. But from my personal experience keeping them, if it is not moving then your environment is not right. Are you keeping it brackish? What cover to you have for them? Got a pic of the setup? What times are you watching it? I may be able to offer some help with this info.
BTW: GREAT species! And my understanding is that they are rear fanged. I know some of the other file snakes are. But i am not 100% sure. That little tidbit of trivia has gone into obscurity in my mind.

: Hi, my javan snake is 3 ft. long, and i have it in a brackish zone habitat. I have it set up like a bank. With a javan snake, you have to have it in a cool environment obviously. So it's pretty much less than 75 degrees where he is. Since they're so rare and seldomly sold, i'm trying to keep him for a while. These snakes will bite, so i want to be careful with him because of the deal with their fangs. Iwatch him in the morning and mostly at night. I don't have a picture of him or the setup.

At 3 feet, I would recommend at least a 55 gallon aquarium. About 1/5 should be land (just enough to get its whole body out of the water if it wants). The water should slightly brackish (I used half the sea salt generally recommended for brackish). Water temp at about 78 degrees. LOTS of cover underwater as they enjoy hiding most of the time. I used sand in the bottom of mine. Mine were most active between about 1am and 5am, but only if all the lights were off in the room. To view them, I had to use red lights. There bodies are actually pretty fagile and do not do well out of the water, so to remove them it is better to use a net rather than your hand or a hook.
Hope that helps a bit.
I still forgot to verify if they are venomous or not.

Hi, thanks for that info, but i don't know about the 55g viv.
Since he's shy or just does'nt move around that much, it could be a waste, but i guess i'll try anything. On they other hand, these snakes ARE NOT venomous or poisonous. Like i said before, these snakes will bite, and leave their fangs in you, which would result in a serious wound. I'm extremely observant of their behavior "now" and make sure he's in a comfortable environment.
Thanks again,

I actually found them to be extremely active a couple hours after the lights went out.

Man, that's pretty good. I saw a 0.1 adult tiger rattlesnake, a 1.1 blue phase speckled rattlesnake, and a 1.0.0 Southwestern speckled rattlesnake at this reptile trading place recently. You should look into some of those. It seems as though you collect most of the common species.

Those are the venomous species that I am limited to by state law.

Usually state laws protect the animal that you have like being taken out of nature or from being harmed. Or limits on how many you have and also a certain subspecies for the obvious reason, but i've never heard of limited species. That's a new one for me.

Even though i'm not interested in lizards , but Um, do you understand the reason why you would get a Uro when you could get already have a bearded dragon because they have almost the same setup and you could get more out of them
