Help me ID my snake

Hey, I just bought this gurl today off snakepete. He told me it's a bcc but I am not sure. Can you guys help? He also said it's a Colombian but I highly doubt it because the coloration is so different that the Colombian BCI i used to have. I am thinking Central American. Don't mind the sock, Enjoy!

Why couldn't it be a Colombian BCC? All you have to do is count the saddles and wait for a shed and cound the ventral scales.
Cheers,
Trevor

As far as i know, there are no BCC from Columbia. They just advertise them as red tails to get more money for Columbian boas. They are all BCIs and i believe your snake is a BCI. Saddle count isn't always an accurate way to tell, but by looking at the snake he has about 21 or 22 saddles to where the vet is. His coloring is nowhere near a BCC either. How much did u pay for him?

There are indeed BCC that range into Colombia, Boa68, however theyre rather rare in collections in US and canada. Id be willing to bet a dollar that its just a normal BCI.

There are Colombian BCC, check the Boa Constrictor Manual for starters. Also Jeff Rone has an article on his website where he claims that all Colombians are BCC.
Cheers,
Trevor

$90, even for a bci. I still think it's a good deal. I only had my doubts because I had a bci before and the coloration was way different. It was a yellow/brown. This is a grey/dark grey.

A lot of neos have a grey colouration to them which they lose with age. Like Jeff said, with true Colombian Bcc being so rare in collections, it is highly unlikely, additionally so for such a low price. In contrast, Colombians have been frequently 'hybridized' for lack of a better word - in captivity, and are sometimes sold under false purity, which can create ID problems down the line when that snake is bred to a pure animal as 'pure'.

http://www.boa-constrictors.com/com/.../colombia.html

On the topic of true Colombian Bcc... it is said they possess the looks of both Bci and Bcc, sort of a compromise between the two. It makes me wonder if there isn't some sort of natural intergrade going on, and Colombian Bcc are in fact, mostly impure?

According to the Boa Constrictor Manual they are seperated by a moutain range so I would think that there would be no natural crossing in the wild. Not like the boarder of Suriname and Guyana.
Cheers,
Trevor
