Endangered Herptile Something or other..

There's this Australian guy that lives around here that is part of this Endengered Bird Breeding Associaton. He once had some endangered Amazon parrots that were sent to him by the association for him to breed, which he did successfully, to send somewhere. I'm not exactly sure on all the details, but he wound up keeping them as they became on the not-endangered list.

Is there anything like that in which people can breed endangered reptiles? As some people's signatures say: Conservation through captive propogation.

I thought it was pretty interesting, and I also figure that captive propogation is going to be one of our few last resorts to maintaining some of the variety of herptiles.

Any thoughts?

I would think all laws on breeding endangered animals would be different for each country so you may try asking your neighbor what type of permit is needed and so on...

Brock,

I'm sure if you were some type of zoo, research facility or institution you'd be able to get government funding to keep/breed rare/endangered reptiles. However, for the private guy to do it all it requires is doing it yourself by buying the animals, raising them up and breeding them.
