Unhappy my poor red eye

hey gang
It is with a heavy heart that I am writing this post
I believe my little guy is dying . I honestly dont know the life expectancy of captive bred red eyes but this little guy has been in my collection for a little over 4 yrs now , and when I left for work today at 2 pm he was still awake at the bottom of the terrarium .
His toes were twitching almost spazticaly and he was very lethargic when I picked him up.
I was wondering if you guys use synthetic plants in any of your setups? because it was only a couple days after I made the switch from live to fake plants that he started acting this way
I also switched th cypress mulch so maybe that had somthing to do with it also ?
the strange thing is the female that he shares the tank with is doing fine.
is there some kind of adhesive on the fake plants that is toxic to my nocturnal buddies or is it just that his time has come to meet his maker
any input will really sooth my nerve racked mind
thanks in advance (if it's not already too late )
Larry

It may be just a coincedence, or he could have caught something from some where. Im new to the amphib scene (just got a FBN) and have little knowledge of possible illnesses. I hope he gets better. Good luck
