Funny story.

So there I was, sitting at my desk completely unable to focus on studying, and considering changing the paper in my oldest bps--Marla's--tank, since I noticed it was dirty after feeding her two days ago. For whatever reason, I procrastinated.

Before I knew it, I heard my suitemate Tamar call my name sharply from her bedroom, one door down from mine. I walked over, only to spot Marla sprawled out on Tamar's rug, staring up at her curiously.

Turns out I didn't completely close her Rubbermaid after the feeding, and she got out sometime between Saturday night and this afternoon. Lucky for me, Tamar found her before I even realized she was gone!!

Apparently, Marla got out once with her previous owner, and that time she was also found before she was noticed missing because she curled up in bed with her owners.

After last year's fiasco when Huxley completely disappeared (and turned up several hours later in an obscure soap drawer that was definitely closed), I'm at least glad that THIS one is a social escapee!*

Just thought you'd like to know!



* I understand that snakes do not feel emotions or necessarily like people. Don't go all anthropomorphic on me, I'm just sayin.

Lily- anyone with a vocabulary that rivals mine can tell funny stories anytime they like. And I talk to my snake just like I do my cats and tell him how cute he is, so I totally understand The things is, I never have figured out how the rubbermaids are secure once the snakes get big. It wouldnt shock me if she had actually popped the top off herself, even if you did close it completely. Not sure how to remedy that though, beyond some duct tape, as mine is in a tank.

Congrats on finding Marla. I have seen your website and they all look great Hope the writing is going well!

LOL very funny story!

I have a friend who raises goats and lives very close to a state park. One day his goats just dissappeared and he looked desperately for them for almost a week. Finally a couple of policemen came to his house and said there were goats in Clifton Gorge (the state park) . My friend went with the officers and sure enough--when they got into the gorge area there were his does scattered like mountain goats all along the rock cliffs. He said that when his herd saw him--they ran!

It was a very silly story.

Too funny, always nice to have social escapees! On the rubbermaids with adult BP's. BUNGEE CORDS!! LOL, that is what I use to ensure they stay closed. I forgot one night to re strap Ulysses tub and my girls were delighted to find him curled up on my bed that night when they went to snuggle in for a story!! LOL.

As far as the whole securing-the-rubbermaid issue, I was lucky enough to find a rubbermaid that a) was big enough for Marla; and b) has latches on the side similar to the kind you'd find on a tank. She escaped because I forgot to close the latches, so she could just push the top right up. But besides for user error, I haven't had any problems with the security of the enclosure!
