Better than CO2

We had a couple of the pet rats out tonight and were just messing around with them. My girlfriend said that it would be funny to make a leash to take them for walks, so I helped out... tied it like a noose though! Possible new alternative to whacking or Dry Ice?

***NOTE***
THE STRING WAS UNDER THE RATS SHOULDER AND HE WAS NOT BEING CHOKED! WE WERE JUST PLAYING WITH THE PETS AND I THOUGHT THAT SNAKE PEOPLE WOULD FIND IT AMUSING!

I bet ya dollars to donuts that pic is going to end up being passed around rat forums as "torturous death for an innocent rodent".

Good call. I took the other pic down... although he was actually climbing around through it and "goin on a walk..." definitely not tortorous death, but I could see how it could be taken wrong... especially in the wrong group... sorry to any that were offended.

I thought it was quite droll

It's just funny how people will take something out of context and abuse the heck out of it to support their point of view.

I still won't be surprised if some has already copied it and posted it on a rat fancier forum. It's human nature to stir up trouble.

Thanks for pointing it out cruciform... there were only like 30 views or so, and most likely they were snake fans (Hopefully) and understood that it was all in fun, with NO harm created or intended. In fact, my girlfriend loves some of the little rats so much that we have an extra ratcage for the "pet" rats that she rescues since they're 'too cute!'

She even named all of my breeder rats, now when I try to talk about the rats and say 'that one or this one' she makes me call 'em by their names LOL... Earl Gray, Elephante, Sniffles, Prego, Giggilo, Flower, Pinstripe, etc...

It doesn't bother me though, since she is not a fan of the snakes... when she complains about them to anyone, I just be sure to include into the conversation that she keeps rats as pets...

I wonder if it works, im thinking that what you could do is take a bag, put rat inside and tie rope onto it and the swing the bag so hard into a tree killing them.

*Goes to the bin of rats picks one out ties the string, puts his head in, lets go of him*

VI -

That's just sick...

Anywho, the 'leash' was just tied with a 'noose' knot for comic relief, I would NEVER try to kill a rat by hanging it.

It was basically the same as these:

Brent that pic is so cute!! Maybe you could make a little "harness" for your little rattie friends? I have one old OLD male rat that is just such a great rattie I don't have the heart to kill him. I've had him out a few times on a little harness and he's okay with it. He's such a great ol' rattie too... he gets along with ALL my other rats... I've never had a problem with him killing pinkies that weren't his or being too aggressive with the females. <sigh> I'm really gonna miss him when he finally passes on... :P LOL!!
Take care

VI, I would guess that the bag will break...read some threads about whacking rats and you'll see there are easier ways to accomplish the same goal
