Hurricane herping...

..Took a break from TV (at least I had power this time)as Hurricane Jeanne, our 4th in 6 wks., was passing by to check out my yard and all the debris tossed about. Came across my cast net that had been blown by my back door. As you can see, there is a southern black racer caught in it. My son and I spent a few minutes removing the offensive net from the snake. After showing his apreciation by biting the hell out of me and chewing for a minute, he slithered off. Hopefully not too much the worse for wear.

Good to see someone going out of their way to save a snake. Most people I know would either let it die or kill it themselves.

Hope everything is going well for you, considering the circumstances.

Great picture and very pretty snake. Glad you could give him a hand getting free (and were suitably rewarded - nothing like being chewed on - at least he is a little guy).

It has been an incredible year for Florida - can't believe the weather you guys have been through. Glad to hear you are surviving.
