Talking We're in Toronto... Yeah!!! Vacation!!!

Hi Guys

We finally got off our butts and came to Canada to stay with friends!!! :bounce:

We are staying in Toronto for about another two weeks and we were wondering if anyone can give us some ideas of stuff to do that's herp-related?

We went to the zoo yesterday (love the retic! What a sweetie)

Are there any public serpentariums, and what reptile stores are worth visiting? Bearing in mind we can't actually give in and buy anything but we'd love to have a look around.

Also - totally herp-UNrelated - where's cool to eat/drink/party? :bounce:

BTW we love Toronto! No, I'm not just saying that because it's a Canadian forum! Canada's cool! I don't want to go home to damp, grey England... :grumps:

Anyway, thanks for any ideas/input, all much appreciated,

Cheers, m'dears,

Brig (complete with holiday-head, woo hoo!)

I visited Toronto a number of years ago, and it was really great. The city is beautiful, and there is lots to do. You should see a stage production, I think a lot of productions start there before going to Broadway, or they come there after running in NY for a while. We saw the Lion King, and it was REALLY great.

Homer Simpson once said "why leave America to visit America Jr?", but I thought it was worth it.

P.S. the exchange rate is awesome

EDIT: just noticed you are from England, message doesn't change though

Welcome to Canada!
Port Credit Pets is a good place to stop in too, meet Grant and his staff. Too bad you couldn't have come a few days earlier, you could have gone to the show this past Sunday.

Don't forget to check out the CN Tower. No herps there, but you can stand on the glass floor 110 storeys up.

Thanks for all your replies!

CDN-cresties - where is reptelia?

DragnDrop - don't remind us about the show!!! We were here in canada, but had already organised a trip up north last weekend! We only found out about the show the day after. Doh! Sore point, I can tell ya!
Will try Port Credit tho.

JustinO and Paul vanhooser - we'll try the one in Peterborough, that's not too far, and I think we're travelling up that way again this weekend, so I'll look it up!

Many, many thanks!

Hmm, didn't get too many suggestions on the eat/drink/party front! Don't tell me you Torontonians don't party... I just don't believe it!!!

www.reptilia.org is one of the better reptile pet stores, definitely worth a look.

If you are interested in the tourist thing:

Sorry you missed the show

I was at the CN Tower Thursday evening killing time while my daughter was at the ACC for the American Idol concert. I met a couple standing at the glass floor, definitely english by their accents. Since I remembered your post, I made it a point to talk to them, but it wasn't you (they were only here for 3 days). They wanted a picture of themselves on the glass floor, so I took it for them. The Skydome was open, and we got a good shot of the game 112 floors below them in the picture. They're going to go home and say they got the cheap seats for the game
Anyhoo, one of the things high on their list was eating at the restaurant on the tower - the 360º It might be a place you could consider.
