New Python update

My new girl "Aisha" just took her first f/t pinkie rat!!.....only the second day after i got her, This is how it went down:

I warmed it up and dried it off then tried wiggleing it in front of her hide like i do my for my cornsnake, haha ...didn't work. So i just lied it there through a blanket over the cage turned all the lights off and went downstairs.

Now i really wanted to see her eat but better safe then sorry i guess, i was lucky beacuse this was also her first rat meal, the guy i got her from had been feeding her fuzzy mice, so anyways i came back up and hour later (yes, i am impatient) and it was still there, so i left and came up 2 hours later and it was gone!...such a load off my shoulders i was afraid i would have a hell of a time getting her to eat.

I am gonna try her again in 4 days since that went so well...i will also try to get sum pics of her up

i hope this helped anyone else who is a newbie with feeding balls

Do most of your baby balls respond better to dangling with tongs or just leaving prey in front of a hide?

i am gonna try again in a week and if she refuses again i'll wait another week then try mice instead

I don't use hides for my hatchlings, and I will only feed then f/t from hemostats.

So if yours don't take the rat/mouse off the hemostats you don't try leaving it there overnight or whatever?..i have heard alot of people saying their balls dont take food off of hemosats and they just have to leave it there

I just dont wanna stress her out even more...i figures leaving it there may be less of a hassel?

Everyone has their own method. You'll figure out that each ball develops their own ideosynchrasies when it comes to how they like to eat, and what they like to eat. I try to start my hatchlingss out on a level playing field; live then f/t off of hemostats. Some will develop their own eating habits, at which point I'll bend to keep their bellies full. You'll figure it out, we all do, just pay attention.
