i was wondering if i was walking around outside where would be a good place to look for some mantises really want to get one of these little guys thanks

Hey, where are ou located?
that makes a big diff, also, many people sell easier species for cheap, If I were you, I would get an ootheca of the chinese mantis if you're going to buy some, they are a large and easy species! Now you can look for ootheca outside, mantids are layin eggs now...

i live in kansas i seen them here before i just want to know what surrounding they live in

they live in high grass were there is lots of food for them and good hiding places ( surronding (green))and also like nouserpiff sayd i would just buy one way easier and they only live half a year so if you catch one full grown he will die soon!
