feeding rabbits to burms???

i cannot get my burm to eat rabbits. it ate one it's first roughly 11 months ago. since then she will not touch them. when she ate the first one she was still feeding upon live. now she is on f/t, but she will not eat a rabbit at all since she ate her first the most she has done was to kill them. she has not eaten since 8 - 21. i am in question if i should wait it out and fast her a short while longer or should i break a feed her rats. also rats do not put a mark on her. what other food options do i have? any help would be great. thanks in advance.

i hear those are awful for snakes, i heard they create to much gas in their tummies. what about chikens anyone here anything is it good or bad and how should i go about it.

Here is the low down........I had this same problem with my burm about 6 months ago. I fixed the situation by rubbing a f/t rat on a f/t rabbit, then fed him the rat first and then the rabbit. I did this for about 4 feedings and then switched him to only rabbits, I've never had a problem since!

I had the same problem with two of my burms. I tried the rubbing thing and it didn't work and I tried the rat urine and it didn't work. The only way I successfully got mine to eat a rabbit was to feed it a rat first and jsut as it was finishing up the rat I would place the head of the rabbit within the snakes mouth. Almost always the snake will just continue on swallowing I got tired of doing this so I have switched to chickens. I have talked to many people about this and I have not heard anything negative about feeding chickens. The stems of the feathers do not digest very well but other then that I haven't experienced any problems. Good luck. Todd
