Not eating. Please help.

I just got my first leopard gecko on sunday (22) and she has not ate yet. I'm a total dead brain and I failed to ask the person that I got her from, what she was eating and when. I was way too excited to even think of it . I do know that she was eating because when I got her home, that night she pooped. I have tried feeding her at all different times of the day for the past 3 days. I've also tried with the lights off. I have tried mealworms, crickets, mealworm beetles, and the form of mealworm just before it turns into a beetle. Should I just give her a break for a few days and then try again? I've also had a bowl of mealworms inside her tank for the past 2 days. I'm very nervous that something is wrong with her even though I checked her over and I thought she looked healthy. Please someone help me .

Its OK calm down lol try to let her/him settle in for atleast 3 days preferably 5-7 days then try again. They can get very stressed on a move and that might effect there appetite.
Matt
PS congrats on the new Leo they are great starter lizards and you should enjoy it.

Post-move jitters It's normal for them to fast for a few days after their world has been turned upside down. I never expect a new leo to eat for a few days, even a week. There's always some mealworms in a dish in case he wants to eat, but as long as he's drinking, don't worry about it.

How long can they go without eating before it isn't normal anymore/un-healthy? I guess I'm just stressing really bad. I was used to my snakes who pretty much ate when I brought them home.

Two weeks is the longest ive heard of a leo not eating without being sick but if they are fat and they get lost in your house they can last for like a year. usually around 4-8 months.

Okay I think I'll start worrying if she goes past two weeks without eating. If there is anything else that you would like to know that might help, feel free to ask. Thanks.

hmmm try not to feed king worms as they are fed steroids super worms are ok for large sub adults to adsults. Pinkies are not good for leos because of the mamalian fat in them and I think thats about it.

I had a leo go 3 months without eating and then she only ate one cricket a week for another 3 months. (she was a rescue) It's very normal for them not to eat when they arrive at a new home, however, it is also normal for them to eat if they are not warm enough. What are the temps. like? I personally find that they should never drop below 80 degrees celcius for very long. So make sure you keep those temps up. If you have any more questions you can email me if you would like Good luck with your new leo. They're great!!!

The guy that I got her from said that she's between 6 - 10 months old. Would that make her a sub-adult or still a juvie? The temperature in her tank is between 80 - 90. Thank you Leviathan I hope everything works out.

It really depends on how big she is. I had a male that was 10" at 11 months old and I have a female at about 10 months old and shes only 6" It all depends on the genes but I would guess that at that age yours is a sub-adult

I'll have to measure her. I know she's definitely not 10" though. Since I'm new at this and everything, do you measure with or without the tail. Sorry for the stupid question.

You can measure either way - including the tail is called TL (Total Length), without the tail is SVL (Snout to Vent Length). Just mention which one it is so we'll get the right idea.
