Ambystoma laterale - pictures

Home for the weekend so I though I'd share some photos.

These two shots were taken on Tuesday of this past week. This day i saw roughly 100-120 laterale. Oddly enough this species is more commonly encountered during the "heat" of the summer.

DNA work is going to be done on this poulation to see what extent of the population are actually hybrids.

Of all the herps I've photographed I find salamanders to be the most difficult. Their head never seems to be in focus.

This population (pre DNA sampling) seems to be mainly blue spot with some jeff. influence.
