tomato frogs

i was thinking about getting a couple of these guys, I have read lots on them but the thing I was wondering is do they really need uvb? they are primarilly nocturnal and nocturnal animals produce their own d3? i have read about 20 caresheets and they all have conflicting info on this topic

no they dont need uvb just heat in the winter ok?

Hey concept3,

I dont think they need uvb, as long as u suppliment your feeders with a vitamin/calcium suppliment they should do fine. But if you have live plants in there, then thats a whole different story.

i dont use uvb with my tomato. and hes doing fine

Not necessarily. Temperatures should be specified, not just whether to apply heat during a certain season. Some people's homes are quite warm during the winter months, some aren't, and same goes for summer months. Everyone's home is unique, so what works for one won't work for another. 'Heat' is also very vague... often people will just stick on a heat pad or bulb that will send the temperature up to 130 degrees

i have done lots of research so i know the temps and so on, just the subject of the uvb was a question because about half the caresheets i read said it is and half said its not required? so confusing
