Adults in a 22 gallon
I am thinking about getting some pygmys or another small chameleon. I have a spare aquarium (which could potentially house the pygmys) and I also have a spare 22 gallon reptarium. The dimensions of the reptarium are 12.5x12.5x24 (24 high) and I was wondering if there was a chameleon that could live its entire life in the 22 gallon? I was thinking carpet chameleon (which get about 7 inches?) but I am not certain. I want him to be healthy and happy in his home. I know bigger is always better, but having that reptarium there is just hurting me.
Let me know.

I dont think the carpet would be to happy in the 22 gallon but i think pygmys will do fine in there with the right conditions.

12.5x12.5x24 = 3750 cubic inches, or 16.23377 gallons, not 22 gallons.
The Adcham Furcifer lateralis lateralis Profile states
"Caging requirements include a minimum 24"(H)x16"(L)x16"(W)."
This works out to 6144 cu. in. or 26.5974 gallons.
Definitely nixes the Carpet Cham idea. Pygmies need more humidity than you can easily provide in a reptarium, so how about saving it for when you have baby chams?

I dont have room for another full size reptarium. And even if I did, I would have a hard time convincing my paretns to allow another panther (which I waaaant) in the house.
I know for a fact the reptarium is 22 gallons, I must have remembered the dimensions incorrectly (because I didn't actually measure it). Anyways, it is not a 26 gallon, so that idea is toast anyways. Maybe I should pick up a larger reptarium (like a 35 or so) and put a carpet in that.
As for the pygmys, if I were to get some (which I also woul really like) I have a large (and spare) aqaurium. Plus I got a free barrer metal aquarium top, heat lamp, UV hood, and UV bulb yesterday, so for any chameleons I am potentially getting, I already have the lights

Is your source for carpets able to ship to canada. And what are the prices like? Do they have a web site?

I just saw pigmy chams for $25 for two of them. Isn't that a pretty good price. Unfortunately I am in CA, USA.

Oh. They looked cool though. I almost made an impuse buy! But I care too much about them to make them suffer until I found out the information. So anyway, are they hard to keep?? Do they get bigger than the half inch total length I saw them at?? Are they easy to breed?? Anyone got a good caresheet for them?? What are your experiences with them?? Sorry if I took over your thread! I just got a little carried away.

lol that isnt it a problem, yes it would be hard to care for if you do not have any chameleon experience. As for breeding its not very hard at all(i just think) In total they grow yup to 1-3 inchs. This is just a rough estimate, Trace might tell you more about them
