i have never tried it,but i wouldn't recommend it some insects may cause your lizard to get sick or even die, for example if that earwig had just crawled through some type of chemical that was sprayed or may be lying on the ground it would not be good for your lizard. i have been tempted to try feeding my geckos wild insects but its just not worth it.

Any I find in the house I toss into my Occelated skinks..They love them. I do the same with those big black ants. I don't use any pesticides or lawn chemicals around my property so I have no worries.

I'll second that. I have used wild caught insects for years for anything that I happened to have that would eat them. We don't use any pesticides, chemical fertilizers etc. around the house so I have no problem that way. I can't quote a whole bunch of "research", but I'm willing to bet the nutritional value of a variety of "field plankton" is a lot higher than lab raised crickets and mealworms.

I should point out here that there have been a few cases lately of bearded dragons dying apparently after ingesting lightning bugs aka fireflys. Be careful.

I've used them almost as a staple for my fish (feeders) this summer. I would worry about intesinal blockage though in anything more important then my minnows. They have a rather hard body and I don't imagine the pinsers are digestable.
