The Mighty Massasauga Rattlesnake *pics*

Well I am very excited to report the successful photographic capture of the Eastern Massasauga Rattlesnake (Sistrurus catenatus catenatus).

P.S. Since I found these cute little guys today too, I thought they deserved a chance in the spotlight. The Yellow-spotted Salamander (Ambystoma maculatum) - just tiny juveniles:

nice find, where about did u find the rattler.?...i saw a couple eastern massasaugas when i used to camp down in parry sound at killbear prov. park

Sweet find. Massasaugas are my favourite snake. I'v noticed our massasaugas (from Essex County) have slightly smaller heads (or narrower) then the ones found around Georgian Bay. I bet it's from an extremely fast growth rate, the body gets big and fat fast and the head still looks like a juvies head. Here are some pics, the first one illustrates the head size quite well. They all look like this.
