leo born without tail
I was in a pet store the other day chatting about lizards and the guy showed me a leo he said he hatched without a tail, it had just a little tiny stub where the tail should have been and no signs of regeneration. Has anyone ever heard of this happening??

its totally possible, mutants are born every day. i've seen a corn snake born tailless. but its also possible that the guy was full of it, that the tail had just fallen off and not regenerated yet. you know how petstores can be.

It didn't look like any lost tail I've ever seen. nothing behind the legs except like a 1/4 inch little thing kinda looked like a tail but about 100 times too small

That happens every now and then, or it will even hatch with the tail just sitting in the egg. Im sure it wont affect his life too much, as long as the owner remembers to feed him right every day and then theres no need for the fat storation.
However the specimen should deffinately NOT be used for breeding.

Awww, do you have photos of the little one? I can only imagine what would cause this, but I guess it's no different than other deformities. Good luck with your leo! =)

So a knob-tail leopard gecko has just been invented lol
I'd be surprised to see that, but as Samba said, this gecko is probably issued from inbreeding and must not be used for breeding again.
