Smile Harnesses and Leashes

We purchased a Savannah monitor recently and also purchased a harness however it slips and comes off and seems to be more trouble than it's worth, does anyone have any opinions or suggestions??

Yea, don't use it. It's a lizard not a dog.

Well you probably wouldn't want to walk it. Might I suggest a fence?

can you possibly cut the straps down, and then super glue them to the right size with contact cement or something?

I just purchased a leash for my savannah too and the first time I put him on it he wasnt fond of the size i had over him I didnt have a problem with him slipping it mainly for the fact he's getting to be about the size of my austrailian cattle dog (slight exageration :-d) I think if you can get it to fit and IF and only IF he likes it I think it's a good idea. I just feel there was too much stress on Beaner so I don't think I'll subject him to another walk anytime soon.

I really dont think monitors like to ''take walks'' like a dog would... of course they need to exercise a lot, but taking them into a new environment can get them to be pretty unpredictible... I've heard of some people's monitor who got totally berserk every time it was outside the house for a moment...

Take him outside without the leash and keep a good eye on him. I chase blackthroats quite often.. hehe... its not that hard to do, they can be fast but usually more cautious outdoors.
