Wait until after their first shed, and by all means, try them on rats early. Congrats on your new babies.

Try posting this question in the carpet forum, youll get more help there. I think you are suppose to wait after they shed once before you try to feed but im not experienced so wait for a more reliable answer.

Congrats on the Carpets. Most people do wait until after the first shed to feed because the hatchlings are ussually reluctant until then. But, it never hurts to try and if you are like me you will. LOL I tried with my carpets because when they were born they had used all of their yolk and after a week old they just seemed hungry. I offered and half of them ate F/T pinky rats. The others ate after shedding. So you see there is no right or wrong and your animals will decide for you.

Hi,
On mine I wait till night to feed them. Wait till they shed. Live will get them to eat quicker. If you get one that won't eat. I skip a week then try again. By then it should be hungry.
Hope this helps
Jess
