found eggs...help

While doing yard work, we found what we think are turtle eggs (ping-pong ball shape)...They had to be moved, so I put them in a bucket with dirt, as carefully as I could. After reading some info, it seems that turtle eggs are NOT to be moved or turned.....What are the chances that I actually killed them instead of saving them? I feel so bad if they were damaged, but how much movement is too much? They appeared to have been freshly laid....Do they have a chance at surviving?
