Talking new guy to the site

Hi, how's everyone doing? My name is Brandon and I have always had a huge fascination with pythons and boas, mostly ATB's and ETB's. I couldn't help myself and ordered a captive bred two month old emerald last week. This is my first boa and I am very aware that most say you shouldn't get an etb as a first. I have been researching for a while and i still continue to research more about these beautiful snakes everyday. From what i can tell they get an undeserved nasty reputation. He is very healthy and already eating. From my research i'm going to feed every 10 days and go by the 3 meals then potty. So far he has been very tame compared to the things i've read. I gave him a couple of days to settle in but other than that i've handled him everyday since arrival. I think i got lucky but i'm still anticipating a bite. For now he's being kept in a 10 gallon aquariam with aspen as the substrate. He has a large water bowl with an aquariam warmer right under it to help keep the humidity up. I've got a daytime heatlamp and a blacklight heatlamp to keep temps up. They are set on a timer from 8am to 8pm. 12 hours light and 12 hours dark. The only problem so far is trying to keep 85 to 90% humidity during the day. I've got part of the mesh top covered but it's still difficult. He's got two perches about the size of his largest section to exercise on. He seems to be doing well but any and all tips would be great. I've been looking at an Animal Plastics cage but what size would be best for an adult? Would it be ok to put him in that big of a cage now or should i wait? BTW, he's about 2 feet long at the time. It was great to find these forums. Thanks for any comments.

Brandon
