Black or White

Well I'm finally getting all the stuff together to build a fiberglass/foam core cageI have all the design kinks worked out, I think. I won't know for sure until i get at it. My final dilema is what color should I get for an epoxy pigment. The cages wont have individual lighting just florescent room lighting and what ever bit gets through the basement window. Any opinions on whether I should go with black or white any why one would be better than the other?

lighter is brighter cooler, darker is darker and warmer. do they make different colours for the resin your using? i used to use green sometimes for animals related stuff.

My cages are black and I prefer them that way. I like the look of them and they are easier to keep cleaner looking (white always ends up looking worn/stained with time), as well as providing the snakes with an environment more private and secure to them. I also personally do not like white accessories or decor in a home, and if it is gonna look good the whole room needs to be done in white and everythign must be spotless and uniform. The only major downfall is for viewing. It is very difficult to view anything that doesn't have light shining directly in (in fact the ones that are perpendicular to the window I have a big flashlight sitting beside

Black is also rumored to make the snakes feel more secure, since it creates an easy visual barrier, and feels more "cavelike".

Nice job Linds. You have make it all by yourself? I prefer white cages but now that i've read that black is better for them, i think i'll use black color in my next cage designs. Also, plexiglas worked for you? It is elastic and may be opened in a corner by a big snake.

1/4 plexi or acrylic is pretty strong, if a snake is strong enough to get it to moove, he would definitively be strong enough to get a glass to break wich could be verry harmfull. I personnally feel more secure with acrylic, at least if a snake escape(wich i really doubt , i have lot of cages with acrylic window and never had any escape) he wont get hurt. i guess thats just a personnal preference! by the way those cages really look nice! for the color black cages look really nice, especially with a neon inside. it depends on youre need too, i you have a 100 snakes and dont want to have to light every single cage and dont whant to have to open every cage with a flash light to see if theres snake poop inside, white would be the best choice!
