Albino Emory Rat Update

Another pride of my projects.

She too is ready for next year.
So hopefully I will be able to produce Albino Emory Rat snakes in 2005. I am trying to feed the male a bit bit more right now, cause he is still a bit on the small scale...so I need him to start catching up.....or else he wont be able to do his job in 2005.

Whoa! Very cool man. Looks like we're in for some interesting stuff in the future... Has the emory amel gene been worked into a creamsicle project yet? It would be interesting to see the difference in using that gene rather than (or maybe even along with?) the corn equivalent.

I don't know of anyone that has bred the albino emory with the albino in corn snake. I bet that there has been done before but I personally am not really a big fan of hybrids...so I do not intend to do it myself...but it should be interesting to see a double albino (both rat and corn) in one snake.

I have no idea what it would look like but it should be nice to see....but just not in my stock~~ LOL

Wow wow wow!!!!!

Those emoryi's look awesome as albinos. Don't have that sickly red colour, that turns me off albino corns.

I totally forgot that you hate it when the albino corns are red~
These albino are yellow...and even more yellower in real life...kind of like lemon yellow~

Cool snakes Simon! As much I still think it's sad that noone's breeding normal emory's, your planned future breeding is still a plus for Canadian "Colubridoculture".

I think that whether someone likes creams or not they should be in favour of maintaining a pure emory bloodline, if that makes any sense... lol!

For example, I like creams and plan to work with them but if I ever find a female GP Rat to pair off with my male I would also breed them seperately from any cream projects just for the sake of keeping emory around. I think that if no one bothers to do this emory might get so diluted with corn blood that it no longer really exists. Then we're all screwed right?

And hell, if no one else is going to breed them why not be the guy that does?

I don't think I've been jealous of any snake you've had except for this one. WOWEE!

Ok, I admit the I do like the frosted cremes, rosy rats and especially the blizzards! Oh yeah, and the opals.

If you could find yourself a normal emoryi to breed to your male, it would be really neat for you to have hets.

Well you're half right. I used to have 1.2 normal emory het albinos....but within the 2 years one died after another....so all I have left are the 1.2 albino emory left. But to be honest I like the albino emorys a lot. But the hets are also great. I MIGHT try to find an adult pair of emory and breed them to make hets though..you know..the just incase thing or just to get some normal emorys out in the Canadian market.

You're definitely right. It is important to keep some pure lines. That is why I don't want to breed my corn snakes with rat snakes or anyother snakes to make any hybrids out. Heck in my opinion I think that the Upper Keys and the Corn snakes are different sub speices of each other. Why I think that? Cause their size are different, their diet is different and I think that even temperment wise I think that they're different.....so IMHO I think that they're not the same subspecies...
one day if they do become extent then we start regreting...well I would think that tis a bit too late....

hey like I said before, you have a nice collection of snakes too. I am jealous of your collection too~
I will be trying to find a normal emory het albino female adult to see if my little albino emory yearling would breed for next year. If so at least I'll get some hets and a clutch of albinos...there would be another little yearling that I would really need pumping up in order to get it ready for 2005...but I think that I would leave her to grow slowly and be ready in 2006...I don't like rushing the growth of my snakes~~just to get ready and breed for me~~

Very nice to see some more recent photos of the albinos Simon. They are so different from corns. Will be great to see some available in Canada - they are still pretty uncommon everywhere. Like Mousekilla, I am curious to see what the impact of both albino genes will be, and given that I am working with creams precominately, I guess I will just have to get on that. Along with the different yellow, they have a markedly increased white background. Then all I need is the chocolate emoryis to go into the mix.

Well I was offered by Don Soderberg a couple months ago to take his whole collection of the emoryis but the thing was that I already planned on moving back so I didn't get a chance to take everythign in....he wasn't asking much either....

This moving back thing is really killing me....I am so missing out on stuff....
cause in his projects there were tons of albinos and chocolates and the two mixed togeether (forgot what he called them...)

But yeah it would be great getting the 2 albino genes together since you're more of the creamsicle person than I am~

I really wonder what they would look like with homo albino rat and corn gene in one snake~~
