What size to start off with

I want to get a carpet python, either a jungle or coastal. Im wanting to put it in a 29 Gallon Sterlite container. I want to get a baby so I dont want it to stress out by this large enclosure. Do you think it would stress out? If so then what size would u suggest and then when to change to the larger one? I also don't want to attach an undertank heating pad if I am goin to change enclosures. Is there anyway to do this without sticking it to the smaller enclosure?

if its a hatchling it can live in a 2ft tank for 12 to 18 months

just set it on top of the heat pad. You dont need to stick it to anything. Then cleaning is a breeze as well (don't have the cord hanging off when cleaning the rubbermaid)

ya just go with a human heating pad. make sure it has lo/med/high settings. low does the trick for me. Also make sure its not one with a 2 hour automatic shut off.

A 27l might be on the big side but with a warm and a cool side hide and a couple of perches it should be fine. I've just used a couple of hard wood dowels. Pre-drill them and use a washer between the plastic and the screw on the outside.

Also make sure the lid is completly scure. If there is any spot where it flexs enough for an escape just use one of those Big black paper clips(tip I picked up from Linds).

This info applies to my dealings with jungles and advice from Jeff Favelle who helped me out a lot with setup pre-purchase.
