Grouping Ackies

I am interested in getting ackies. However, before I commit to getting a group of them (like a trio), I would prefer to just keep 1 first and see how I fare with it. Once I am certain I am comfortable with the species, I would then purchase the other two to form the group. Are there any cons to keeping just one, or to add others once you have one established?

Also, any details on people's setups would be great. I am thinking of having an enclosure custom built for them. What would be the ideal dimensions for a trio? (I was thinking 4'(L) x 2'(w) x 2'(H)). Information on substrate, hides, etc. would also be appreciated.
