mites on my mice need help

hello, I went in today to check my babys. I had three litters two of the three have mites one was so bad I killed them all including the mother. Is there anything i can do to stop this? I need some babys to feed my younger snakes but i need some grown ones as well. Should i kill and freeze them all?

Before buying new mice at either the pet store or from a breeder, check them for mites. You should have no trouble freezing them and feeding them, or for that matter even feeding them off now, rodent mites are host specific and will have no interest whatsoever in your snakes. IMO just to be safe, I would freeze your entire breeding program, and start new with miteless mice.

There are several excellent products available in your local pet supply store. You could also check with your local vet for an over the counter product. I generally use tea tree oil diluted with some olive oil. It's not as effective as the commercial products, but at least it's not full of chemicals. I'm just way too fussy about my rodents. LOL!
Take care
