Live vs. Dead.

Just curious, who here feeds their big boas live food?

I'm just wondering what the advantages are of feeding your snake dead (besides the fact that dead prey doesn't have the chance to fight back).

LINEBACKER 2:

It is always better to feed dead (fresk killed or warmed up frozen thawed). When you say "besides the fact that dead prey doesn't have the chance to fight back", that is simply it. Why bother risking the health of your animals or its appearance from feeding live and later dealing with injuries to it.

There maybe others that will feed live but I see no sense in it, if the boa eats dead keep it on that only.

Cya....

Dead, especially for boas. Pinkies can't do any harm when they are live. Take a look at what boas start to eat when they get bigger, and the choice is WAY too obvious.

Large rats can do some serious damage. You wouldnt want a pet to be scared for life for something like just seeing it eat a live rat. Though I do admit it would be cool its not worth it at all.

also...freezing kills all of the rat's intestinal parasites that could be passed on to the boa.
