Are fake leaves a danger

to put in my Colombian's tank?

I'm pretty happy with the setup ( finally ). But want to add a little something.

I have these long viney things, plastic, that I'd like to lay on the bottom. Providing they aren't a danger to him.

The leaves/vines are the ones sitting on top in this pic:

Should be fine in my opinion!
I've never had any problems with fake plants.
Nice tank by the way, i'm hoping to get a couple of BCI's soon, do you have a humidified box? Or do you just use a water bowl?

Thanks Nicola.

I just have the water bowl in there. He's shed once since I got him ( roughly 1 mos ago ) and had no probs with it.

Yes, they will eat the leaves and die.

Kidding.

Looking good. Love the no-screen! People are learning....

You shouldn't joke about that Jeff.. I bet it has happened. Snakes have eaten cage light bulbs so I'll bet you plants have been taken as well.
I once knew a guy that had his cal King eat a bloody branch, just because it smelled like mouse.
He told me the snake actually passed the branch, and then shed..LOL Must have been nutritious.
I think the odds are small but if plastic leaves get stuck to food and ingested, it could be all over.
Christina, just make darn sure those leaves stay on the vines, and loose ones don't get accidentally stuck to a wet thawed out rat.

I use to play around with both real and fake plants in snakes cages many years ago. I eventually gave up, because they wreck and crap on both, and they don't stay looking attractive for very long, unless you have something like lazy Chondros, that never move

Actually I was more worried bout the snake getting tangled up in them and possibly rubbing off some scales, or other injury. I don't think he'd try and eat them, but thanks. I will definately keep the leaves on the hot side of the tank, away from feeding. I always watch them eat, and he's quite the ummmmm, easy eater I will say.

Odds are I will end up removing them like Roy, but, ya know how it is, ya start with a few snakes, nice decor, etc etc. and then you realise as you get more, how unpractical it is to clean all this stuff LOL.

Funny thign Roy, I was watching RealTV last night and they had a guy's pet boa that ate the heat pad (Sunbeam)!!! They guessed that it still had the smell of rodents on it, and it was warm, soo.......

Just crazy.
