Ive noticed some people with customized avatars do i need to donate to set my avatar a certain way?

What do you mean customized? As in moving ones like mine? That is just a program used to make a bunch of animated pics.

You can take any picture that's on your computer and set it as your avatar, as long as it's filesize isn't too big, and if its in the right format. (I think JPEG works...) Good luck.

You can use any picture you like as your avatar, as long as it's either in jpg or gif format, and within the size allowed (100x100). Simply go to "Profile" > "Edit Options" > "Change Avatar"

Any animation program will work. I use PhotoImpact XL by Ulead which has a "GIF Animator". I'm sure Photoshop, Paintshop and the other big names have their own versions. If you want a freebie, they're available too but will need a bit of searching on Google or similar.
