Question big food

will a snake eat something that is to big or do they know what they can and cant eat I have a brb and I am moving up in rat sizes as fast as he will eat them I just want to know if he refus to eat is it to big ?thank you in advance

Depends, I've had snakes attempt to take down a rat for an hour before finally giving up. However, I've also had a few snakes not even touch a food item that (I think??) they thought might have been to large. It's an individual thing. I would go for it, what have you got to lose other than a rat?

I've had a snake regurge an item that was a little too big (it could get it down but it was uncomfortable.

oh hey mykee, ive been away from the forums for a little while. just wanted to let you know that after a few weeks my IJ started taking those rats that I bought from you (first few attempts he just kinda poked at the rat with his nose...goes along with the prey being too big topic of the thread) He takes the smaller of the ones you gave me easily and has grown several inches since moving to the adults, and bulked up alot. feeding one rat every 10 days or so.
