Where to buy the P. Metallica Spiders??

I just saw photos and they are so beautiful! I have a tropical reef tank and a Green Tree Pythion and this is the first time I have ever wanted to own a spider...

Hello.
Actually, you don't have to be rich. Compared to what some pay for other herps, spiders are quite affordable.

What should be pointed out, is that P.metallica isn't yet available on seller's lists. It was recently discovered, and only a few specimens smuggled out of their country. The ones available are in the hands of people who are attempting to establish them in captivity. will take a while for them to be bred in numbers, and for the price to come down enough to keep them merely as single pets.

They are very nice, but in the meantime, there are other tarantulas worthy of getting!
Try looking up:
A.versicolor
C. cyanopubescens
C. fasciatum
B. boehmei
for starters. You may be pleasantly surprised at how much color is out there!
Good luck
D.

Actually Poecilotheria metallica was described in 1899 originally, however, the species seemed to disappear until recently. There were a few Europeans who managed to "remove" some adults from India, and the result was a few hundred CB (or Captive born, anyways!) spiderlings of this never before offered species. Here is a recent picture of one of my 2" specimens.
