Lookign for turtles in canada

Hey guys, new here and lookign fro some friends for my painted turtle, i was lookign for maybe another painted turtle or maybe some baby snappers, or baby RES, Will take almost any kind of baby turtle.. Can anyone help me out or point me in the right direction to gettgin some?

I'm not sure of the laws in QC, but in Ontario, you can be fined up to $25,000 and/or up to 2 years in jail for having painted turtles or snapping turtles without a valid fishing license.. You may want to check your laws before you get any more turtles..

Without a valid fishing liscense? I have a fishing license but i think that law is a little whack

Anyways RES are legal thought right?

Or maybe an alligator snapping turtle (baby) ?

Yes, red eared sliders and alligator snapping turtles should be fine.. Again, I am not sure, but your povince may have laws protecting the native wildlife... The law is there for good reason, to protect our native animals from explotation in the pet trade and so they are not threatened in Canada.

laws for a good reason? yes perhaps, but a good law, definately not. Can you even imagine how many ppl in ontario have a valid fishing liscence? i'd say bare minimum 25% of canadians have it. That law isn't restricting too many people...

That law is for snapping turtles only, for keeping ontarios other 7 species of turtles,there are no loopholes like that. Are you saying the law isnt enforced enough, or that is a bad law?? If you think it isnt enforced enough, I've spoken with several people that have caught turtles planning on keeping them, and have had them decide to let their turtle go...
