Question malaysian or sumatran?? Pics

Hi all,
Finally got some pics but they are pretty poor quality as i did not want to disturb them as they both had a small rat friday night. If you could give your opinions on whether they are malaysian or sumatran i'd be very appreciative, either way i'm well happy with them. I'll get some better pics when they have settled in a bit more and have not just eaten
The top pic is of the female and the bottom is the male,

wow!!!

They sure look sumatran to me, but i'd say they have to be the REDDEST I've ever seen!!!! They are frigging gorgeous!!!
Are their heads always that dark or do they get light tan/peach on occasion?Bankas and maylasians seem to be mostly dark or blackish most of the time..
Anyway, whatever they are, you SHOULD be happy with them!!!!
EXCELLENT!!

Hey Ax,
Thanx very much for the kind comments, yeah their heads have pretty much stayed the same colour since i've had them, but then i have only had them since tuesday and i have left them alone so i have not really noticed.
Well happy with them, they got a real good feeding response on them too so "touch wood" i'm guna enjoy raising these lol
Thanx again hope all is well cheers Will

Anyone who says they can tell you it's a Malaysian or Sumatran just by appaerance is fooling themselves. There are not enough phenotypical distinctions to say for sure. I've seen WC Malaysians that look exactly like Sumatrans and vice-versa. Generally speaking though, the "blonde bloods" are typically accepted as being Malaysian, whereas the red bloods are accepted as being Sumatran.

My little one shed, I think he is going to turn out to be a choclatey yellowish color.

on the topic of colors....

do they change colors as they get older? Get redder or lighter or anything like that?

I've heard they are the best looking between 1 and 2 yrs old. The little female that I have here is really pretty I have to get some pics of her, she is also supposed to be a malaysian.

Those two are awsome by the way, I love the bright red on them!!

Hey,
It's very difficult to say, as the picture if you don't mind my saying so, is lousy. However, I can tell just from that, they these animals are gorgeous, and the only real way for me to know if they are Malaysian or Sumatran, is for you to send them my way. LOL! NO, really, they could in fact, be Bangka Bloods, just by looking at the photo. I don't agree that there are more blond Bloods coming from Malaysia proper, as was suggested. More typically, true Malaysians, hailing from Peninsular Malaysia, are more typically red than blond or any other color. But, again, without any collection data, it is very difficult to say what they are with any confidence. Just enjoy them.
