Difference in Hypo Motley and Motley

Just wanted to show some of you how a regular hypo motley, an 'ultra' hypo motley (I quote ultra because they are not proven yet, but I am sure that they look different than regular hypo motleys) and regular original motleys

and the best part is that in the 'ultra hypo motley' the second last pic you can actually see that there are a bit of black boarders around the saddles/blotches of the animal. It's really cool in person if you are able to see them. I am hoping that I would be able to double clutch her this year and get some more from her. But I don't expect much since this is her frist year breeding~~

Love the 'ultras' Simon - they are gorgeous snakes.

How old are the original hypo motleys adults in those pictures? I have found it hard to distinguish normal motleys from hypo motley because the motley pattern reduces the black so much that they can look like hypos even if they are genetically normal. I have the same problem with striped normal vs striped hypo. The two that you show appear much brighter as I would expect from the hypo effect, but without knowing hold old they are it is hard to determine whether some of the dullness in others I have seen can come from age. Well folks what would ya all call this here girl. She is extremely gravid in pic & has since laid 21 eggs. Going by the above pics she's looking like an ultra. I call her a Motley Striped. What do yas think? Mark

that is a gorgeous looking animal~
and the size on her is great!! I love how big and fat she is~~

I wouldn't really consider her as an ultra (heck I wouldn't really consider mine as ultras yet (until I have proven it out))

The reason why I say that is that she has too much black on her.
If you compare the 'ultras' that I got and the red hypo motley (this is what I would consider her as) yours has a lot of black on her. Where as mine doesn't have black on her.

But to be honest, the real adult ultra hypo motleys that I have seen are so red that they're like amels...the only thing that you can tell the difference is from their eyes....amels have red eyes...and the real ultra hypo motley has black eye (but with amel looking body...completely with no black, except eyes)

So I wouldn't consider mine as true ultras yet. Until I have bred it to a regular hypo to get some normals out then I would be sure that these are not regular hypos.

But since there are so many different hypos out there, its definitely going to take a long time to prove out that these are not just regular hypo, sunkissed hypo, lava hypo (which I am quite sure that these are not Lava hypos) and is the 4th hypo, the Ultra hypo.

Only time will tell~~~

Thx people, she was bred to both an Amel & Anery Striped. So it will be quite the mix of genetics in the offspring. This is her first time to be bred also. Her eggs are all nice & big whereas the Amel & Anery Stripe females that were both bred to the same 2 males all have tiny little "marble" eggs & it looks like the Amel's eggs are already starting to die. Hate to say it, but other than this girls eggs, I don't have much hope for the other stripers at this point, but only time will tell. This girl looks like she's going to be a good breeder anyhow. P.S. bad news tidbit - the Amel female I lost this year was not the only one. My other friend that had got the female from me beleived to be her sister also died "mysteriously" a week or so after egglaying as well. She ate twice after & then was just dead one day. That & the fact the other Amel eggs are dying (same as last year) makes me seriously wonder about the stabilitly of the Genetics of those 2 girls anyhow. Either that or its just that bad things come in 3's?

I changed my mind Mark - I don't need any hatchlings - I just really need that amel stripe male - he is gorgeous!! Seriously - if you are ever thinking of getting out of the striped corn business - let me know - that is a very pretty male!

Actually if that big girl is het amel and you get any amel stripe motley babies from her, I maybe do need some hatchlings!!

Will definately be waiting to see what the babies turn out like! Sorry to hear that those from your amel girl don't seem viable.

Its Deja Vu from last year when I look at them & unfortunately you know what that may mean. Stillborn and/ or malformed babies. I'm hoping I'm wrong, but we'll see I guess. Mark
