worried
yesterday i moved my chams into the basment(a jackson and a veiled). the jackson seems to be doing fine, but the veiled is who im more worried about. she was a little dark in color, however, she wasnt under the basking light, so i figure she cant be cold. but i odnt know what could be stressing her out then. also, she ran away from me when i opened her cage door. usually she knows i am feeding her and comes over to me to eat. however, this time she turned very dark, tried to bite me, and then ran away. she did eat some crickets, but it wasnt like she usually does. im just owrried about them. i would like to keep them in my room, but its too hot for them and there is hardly a temperature drop at night. also, the basement gives them better humidity(60% at all times, even higher when i mist). if anyone has any suggestions of what i can, or what might be wrong, plase let me know. thanks

She's probably just stressed from being put into a new environment...I'd give her a little time to adjust

ya punkuponastar is right, let her settle in for a bit, you have to remember they get stressed easily. I find that females get more stressed then males, thats my opinion

i think its been about a week now since i movedthem in my basement. they're both eating fine, and my veiled shed today. she is still pissy and runs away when i open the cage and start misting. my jackson on the other hand is the other way around. he loves being misted. when i go down there, he is usually a little dark, but once i start misting he turns bright green. i know hes not dehyrdated because his eyes are bulging out, and he just shed 2 days ago, and he had no problems. also, the humidity is always 55%+ and his basking spot is about 85, while the coolest part in the cage is about 75. at night, it goes down to 70. anyone know what might be the problem? i was thinking maybe after i mist him(with hot water), it turns cool and he turns darker and goes under the basking light to dry off. does this make sense? then why is he sometimes dark, even when i dont mist him?

I would sudjest raising your humidity. Jacksons prefer about 70 to 80 % in the day and 90 to 100% at night. This is probably the reason for him changing brite green when he gets moisture, and being dark the rest of the time. Also try and gradually bring the night temp down to around 60. Jasksons are mountain species that prefer a cool, humid enclosure. What is the size of his enclosure? Is he a jacksonii or a sub-species?

he is a Chamaeleo Trioceros jacksonii xantholophus. hsi cage is 2x2x4. he has a basking spot of about 84, and the rest of the cage can drop down to 73. at night, the temp doesnt really drop below 69. he also has uva/uvb light. humidity is always 55+, and after a misting it goes up to 75%+. right now, i use a hand sprayer, but soon(after my birthday) im gonig to get a misting system which will make it easier for me and better for him.

alright, well my jackson has been good with his cage for a few days now. hes always bright green(like he used to be) and hes more active during the day. and today, it looks like my veiled finally has gotten used to her new cage. she too is her baby green and showing some orange. also, when i opened the cage she didnt turn dark and run away. she did stare at me though, and still refused to eat from hand. so i just put the waxworm on a leaf infront of her and she ate it.
