hoggie shedding (finally!)
Well my w.hognose is finally shedding.
He at a live 3 day mouse pink for me about a week ago. I thought he was going into shed, his belly was shiny/dull (I know contradicting) than usual. Then about 2 days ago, I noticed his eyes were completely blue! They are still blue as far as I can tell.
And boy is he grouchy! lol. Struck at me a few times, Don't know if his mouth was open or not. Hissing like a car tire that has got a hole in it.
So I guess I'll get to my questin, lol.
How long does it take for hoggies to shed?

I'm pretty new to hognose myself, but it took mine about a week after he went blue. Does it seem like to you that their eyes get a lot more blue than other snakes? Mine looked like he had completely bluish white caps over both eyes, never seen my corns or kings get that blue! LOL!

i have a quick question about feeding if other hog owners would like to answer. my hog is about a foot long and eats one fuzzy a week, but he gets pretty hungry a day or 2 before i feed him should i feed him more often?
sorry to butt in on your thread sapphire =\

I don't really know, my female is about that size also and I fed her a p/k large hopper a couple of days ago and it didn't even leave much of a lump. What is everyone else feeding hognose this size?

They look extremely creepy when theyr all blued out. a week or a bit longer is how long it took for my two to shed.
as for the feeding my male used to eat 4 pinks every 4 days! my female is more picky and would only eat 2 every 6 days. but now both are on fuzzies, and eating regularly, about every six or seven days, depending on foos size

Oh no problem Lrptls! I do it all the time, lol.
Oh is he all huffy! If I tap his cage (found out accidentaly as something fell off a shelf and hit the cornor of his cage) and you could hear him hissing all the way across the room! He is buried and in his hide! So it's not like he can see anyways!
I feed him (when he DECIDES to eat ) one (sometimes 2) about 4 day old pink every 7days. If he would eat more I would give it to him, and he don't like to take something to big, and the most he will accept is 2. So hopefully after he is done shedding he will eat more.
Does anyone have a pic of a full grown w.hog with something for size reference? My male is about as big around as a dime (U.S) and about 10-11 inches long, and almost a yearling, about 2 months away from 1yr. Does this sound about right?
