Viper Geckos

Ive got a leopard gecko, and a crested gecko... and i saw a viper gecko in my local pet store. (reliable pet store) Apparently they dont grow very big., but im not sure about care... any ideas on sites or anyone have any information themselves?

haha, before i read the thing saying that that is your crested gecko, i thought you were gonna say it was a viper. and i was like uhhhhh no, im pretty sure thats a crested.

anwyay, nice crested. i dont knwo too much about viper gecko care, but im sure other people will help you out. also, you've probably done this already, but look up some stuff on google or another search engine. good luck

i have a viper and it comes from pakistan meaning it likes to be dry. I use sand as substrate. A tank like 5 gallon would be enough for one viper. You should go check google for more information. You'll enjoy it.

I have a pair and babies too

They like it hot. 85-90 on the hot side and it can fall to room temp on the cool side. they need lots of hides as they do not come out much except when its very quiet and dark.

**** make sure you are feeding the proper size of food!!!!! Mine are full grown and I feed them 1/4 crix. If your's are less than 6months old you'll need 1/8 crix. Make sure you dust with calcium and D3 every to every there feeding. I've also heard that they love tiny mealworms/waxworm.

Mine are 3"(female) and 2 1/2"(Male) full grown. I have pics in my galery.

Sand is ok but you still run the risk of impaction(as with any gecko)

I have resaerched and read that sand is proper use because they spit it out when it is anywhere near their mouth

From my experience they do not spit the sand out.

I keep mine on papertowel, easy to clean and safe.

it was recomended to me to put a sand lay-box inside my cage so she could burry her eggs, a couple days later I found a large amount of sand in a poo. Needless to say I removed it and they are still ok.

We had a female die from impaction. Needless to say, the other 4 are on paper towel now rather than sand. Ours don't hide too much... there is usually at least 2 of them out and lying in the open on the warm end. Here is a link with care info for you:

Ill ba making my trip to the pet store soon. But does anyone have a picture of there enclosure? I have a 10 gallon tank that i was planning to use.. not wanting to purchase a new 5 gallon.... i hope that that is okay. The pet store has a breeding pair that has layed 3 eggs... They are selling them singly for 90$ canadian and 189 for the pair. I would buy the pair but i dont got the moolah.

I know it isn't the prettiest set up, but it's a 5G (half height 10G), so a 10G would be great... they just don't need the height.

That price for a viper gecko is really expensive i know where you can get one for cheaper if you pm me

That is pretty expensive, but it's from a petstore so that is to be expected. If you can find a breeder(which are very very rare in canada) they will probably sell for $40-60. I'll probably sell my babies for around $50.(but I'm not going to ship... sorry)
