Yet another mite question

sorry. I'm sure there's been a million of these asked.

k, when I first saw the mites, what I saw was this little, round black bug the size of a pinhead, maybe a touch smaller. It was crawling on my arm where my snake was, then saw 2 more on the snake.

Is that what I am continuing to look for?

I've seen little black specks on the paper towel, they don't move or anything.....is that dirt or mites? The specks look nothing like what I saw at first.

so I'm wonderring if i'm overparanoid and thinking every little black speck is a mite.

the specks i've seen are about the size of this period . some even smaller. no movement.

any help would be appreciated. Thanks
