lazy tongue

ok, today i went to get a female panther, and then i fixed up her cage and stuff, so i feed her, and it looks like she cant shoot very far with her tongue.....They say shes about 6-7 months, she is 7in from tip of mouth yo tail. She would go up very very close to the criket and only shoot about 2-3 cm or even less, she missed a couple of times as well, i hand feed her and she would go as close as see can and then shoot, and same goes with cup feeding, is this normal, i dotn think it is? should i slowly train her to shoot farther???

She might have some health problems... there's a couple different factors that could be contributing. I am not a cham expert, but I heard that if it is calcium difficient, the bones that aid in shooting the tongue could be weak so when she shoots the tongue, it's a painful experience so they try and keep the range to a minimum. Just what i heard.

Yup, over/under supplementation can be one cause. Damage to the tongue and supporting parts can be another (quite often the result of hitting the cup if cup fed). Dehydration can cause it as well as a host of health problems.
If you can get the supplementation history, you'll have a clue if that's the source of the problem. Find out also is she was cup fed. It's easy to see if she's dehydrated, in which case you can see some improvement after a few days of decent watering.

hmm when the guy brought down the cage, there was a cup in there so i guess cup feed, and i asked him how much supplementation was given and he said, about 3 times every week or 2. 100% sure shes not dehydrated.
