Food hopper?

When making a 'hopper' to hang down from the lid and hold food, how do you attach the hardware cloth (is that what you make it out of?

Do you twist metal together or is there a better way? Just curious as I may set up the rat breeding cages today.

It doesn't have to hang down. Just use fairly shallow trays, and put your chow right on top of the 1/2 inch hardward cloth...why make things harder than they have to be. The rats will figure out how to eat it throught the screen.
You can use jumbo kitty litter pans, or rubbermaid blanket boxes for rats.

Hardware cloth is galvanized steel. It can be soldered if need be, or wired together with pieces of the same stuff.

My Rats, just started to chew through the Jumbo Kitty litter pans.

Do the R.M. blanket bokes work well in a rack, and do they have any ridges that the rats can get a tooth hold on?

Any Pix hanging around?

Thanks, and sorry for the "Hi-Jack"

Thanks
Brian

HOW could they chew through the kitty litter boxes!?!!??

Edit: Don't forget to make sure the hopper is low enough for babies that are starting to eat on their own.
