Nothing beats ceramic soil (e.g. Profile Aquatic Pond Soil) for incubation.

I have always had the best luck with sand or soil, vermiculite always seems to make my eggs go moldy no matter how dry I try to keep it, I find sand to be my #1 choise but I know most people have the worst luck with this one, but again it depends on the spieces.

I'm currently using vermiculite with a layer of moss over top to resist the mold a bit better.

Last year with my cornsnake clutches, I had a problem with mold. I was incubating them right on the moist vermiculite. This year I am using the no-substrate method and the problem has gone away (98%). I only have 1 egg out of 53 with mold on it. And that one may have molded over regardless... ???

I plan to try the sphagnum moss idea soon but I haven't been able to find any... I haven't been looking too hard though.
