hybrid question

im not to good with genetics so i was wondering if someone could tell me what type of hybrid i would get out of a normal corn crossed with a mexican black kingsnake. i assume it would be a jungle but what would it look like?

You have no genetics involved here. A normal corn to a black king are two naturaly occuring species.

At best you get a dull looking mix of both animals.

You should ask yourself, will I be able to find these little bastards (no pun intended) new homes. Ugly hybrids are a very hard sell.

I've heard horor stories of how people get rid of unwanted hybrid snakes but that is for another time.

I think that it would produce dark, muddy looking snakes that would not be too desirable to own for most interested in purchasing hybrids. Most people "creating" or purchasing such snakes are looking for bright, brilliant, vibrant colors, not darkish Blah looking snakes with no color. One really doesn't know what will turn out, but you can guess by what ya start with. A solid black snake in the mix does nothing but darken/muddy up the babies IMHO & therefore is not desirable at all. A lot of people that are considering making Hybrids do so simply because they lack "mates" to go with the 2 different species of snakes they own. A piss poor reason IMHO & that of most others. If one is considering making "mutts" LOL they should do so because they have thought about things such as looks & traits & marketability (sp?), not just because they have an adult male & an adult female of 2 different species that may successfully produce with each other. Nobody wants to be stuck with a bunch of dark ugly snakes that no one wants. Why even put the animals thru it? It is hard enough sometimes to market pure bred specimens let alone a bunch of ugly Mutts. Mark

Glad you feel that way Ken. However, if I were to ever produce any. I would just feed them to my other snakes.

Hybrid breeders should work on beautiful colourful speciemens, not dull and basically unattractive snakes. As much as I like hybrids, I would not want to see mexblkxcorn hybrids on the market.

As well, what looks to be red in the pic, is in fact not. There was no red at all on this snake and the flash really cleaned him up. He was really dark and muddy in real life.

i love the way hybrids look...even the ugly ones have a wierd sense on them...but as far as mixing species.....it just screws up the bloodlines and brings forth unatural babies..they r kinda never ment to be(still nice lookin)

Well I can't really call that one ugly either LOL but it is way more desirable to most to have non naturally occurring looking ones if you are to interbreed, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Mark
