Is this a good size veiled tank?

Hey everyone,

I just got a 24"x18"x48" chameleon enclosure, but I do not know if that is too compact for an adult male veiled. Right now he is only about 7 inches from head to the tip of the tail. I have heard that it shouldn't be but I would rather hear from more experienced keepers such as yourselves. Thank you for the help.

Aidan

That is a good size idealie i think ud want it to be a bit deeper then 18 inches but its big enough. The word tank always scares me is it a screened cage?

Yeah its a wooden enclosure with a screen door, top and half of its back. I use 'tank' instead of enclosure. Sorry about the confusion.

everything ive read said that a cage should be atleast 2x2x4. so i would say it should be a little bigger than that.

edit: oh wow, i thought that dimensions were 24x18x18. my bad.
the cage you have should be fine.

saiildvaenr, if you dont mind me asking, i want to know how you have a chameleon with all your other things. like i just read your signature and you have all the crazy scorpions and spiders and what-not, and then you have a veiled lol. im not saying that its bad, so dont take offense or anything, but i just find it weird.

LoL, Kidchameleon, I am not sure what you mean by how. Do you mean how do I have the room for them? Or why do I have a veiled with all the arachnids? Believe me bud I have the room, and I always wanted a veiled, before I had any animals. I actually got a scorpion "instead" of a chameleon, then the addiction went overboard. I love them all though.

yeah, i didnt mean how, i meant more of why, but it wasnt intended to offend you or anything, i just found it weird how your animals had such a drastic change.

Why? Because I love chameleons. They were my first interest, before arachnids of any sort. I always wanted one but it was never economically the right moment until now where I am selling paintings and have many buyers. I was finally able to afford the initial costs as well as weekly costs they provide.

If I obtained any reptile or snake I would probably recieve the same question, because their is no middle-ground between arachnid and reptile. Well, if there was I would want one, but that's another story.

Do not worry, no offense was taken by any means. I simply love chameleons and finally was able to obtain one, and hopefully will be able to afford another in the future. I hope this one answered your inquiry to a greater degree.

ok, im glad you didnt take offense, i was just curious and it seemed a little odd. and i think its really good how you waited until you have enough money to get one so you could properly take care of it.
