Weather, but i bet you knew about that ha ha, shipping is a great risk in my opinion, but if your sending it to B.C see what the weather is up there, and get it there in a day

have you shipped or had any shipped to you before? for my brevs, rob at rkreptiles put them in a paper bag full of strips of newspaper, and then put that bag inside a box full of strips of newspaper with a heatpack in it. with overnight ups here in the states it took less than 18 hours to get them from sunny florida to frigid north dakota. just watch those overnight temps.

I know that the weather is a big factor, I may luck out shipping soon, as it's not too hot or cold. What I really need to know is what company will let me ship throughout Canada, and who's the most reliable. Shipping is a big risk, but if done properly I can minimize that risk.
Thanks for the help so far, but I need a bit more before I can decided if I'll do this or not.

Its not legal to ship ground in Canada, and no couriers will knowingly take live reptiles...
sorry for the bad news, but they must fly live cargo... In the USA you can legally use the postal service for lizards, but not here in Canada.

You'll have to use Air Canada Cargo or West Jet... It will cost you close to 100 bucks... It's a huge trade barrier here in Canada.
It's not really possible to facilitate cross country herp sales, unless the amount warrants it...several hundred dolloars usually to make it worth while, and of course your customer has to be near an airport.
There is no door to door deliver in this country

Excellent info, thank you all. I recently heard back from UPS and they will ship reptiles, the cost seems to be a bit cheaper than AC - but I would have to be shipping things out on a daily basis(which I'm not)
magnum - awesome business idea! I've never heard of anyone doing that before!
Good luck with it!

Not that I can think of..... I haven't heard back from the guy who wanted me to ship. I don't blame him, I wouldn't want to be a guinea pig for this!
