Hog isle BCI?

The one pictured is used for gecko's.

the front is a glass door, with latches on either side. No snakie escapie.

It is all wood, which would be waterproofed, and worked on a bit before my snake arrives.

On the top, there is a screened area which is very easily changed. I can take out the screen and replace it with something else. ( it the back portion of the top, it is screened for lizards basking lamps ).

It is 2ft x 2ft and I'm not sure how high, minimum 18" high.

What do you think?

Much too small for an adult. Fine for a younger one however.

Not an adult Hog. If its a baby, just put it in an 11.4L Rubbermaid. Then move it to a 42L after about 6-8 months. It can stay in that until you build its final enclosure (4x2x1.5).

I think it looks great for a boa, but would need to be a just bit longer for a full grown adult Hoggie. The height and width are fine, you could even go to 12" in height. Being that hogs remain smallish, the length could go to 4' with enough room. Aint a bad lookin cage either.

Yes, she's not full grown. This is definately not a permanent home, just till she gets a bit bigger.

I'm staying away from rubbermaids for this baby. She's meant to be seen, not hidden away

Gonna be tough to see a nocturnal snake that would much appreciate the opportunity to hide during the day. If you want to put an animal on display for viewing, most lizards make way better captives.

Ditto what Jeff said. Nocturnal snakes don't really make good display animals.

As the other poster posted, I mainly view my snakes at night

anyways, the question at hand, what should I replace the screen with? Right now its screen door type screen and I don't want her getting hurt. So should I replace it with some other screening so there is still ventalation, or ?????

She won't get hurt on the screen. She'll just dry out. I'd replace it with a wood top. Make a wood top that's 2x2 and hinge it on.

I'd drill some ventilation holes in the side of the cage as well.....cross ventilation would be a plus.
