Meal worm bins
I've seen members asking how others set up their mealworm colonies, so i thought i would post how mine are setup. I know i had questions when i first did it, thanks to you that helped.
There's alot of things you can use for a substrate, this is just what i've used in mine. Other people can add suggestions if you would like.
Rolled oats, wheat bran, wheat germ, some other bran i forgot (lol), dried sea kelp (expensive), powdered milk, baby rice cereal, 12 grain mix, sprirnilla (sp. linds can spell it right), fish flakes (rarely),carrots and greens for moisture.

Linds thanks for the spelling , I didn't feel like running down and checking. I'm using a 55 gal (tall) for the tubs to be in, there's also a lid that goes on top but for the pic. i took it off.
Mice for you i'm not sure what brand the top 2 are, I bought them at walmart. The top 2 are stackable containers and the bottom one is a rubbermaid, they all won't fit on the bottom because of the big rubbermaid.

For me it took about 2-3 months, that's why i have 3 seperate tubs set up, it also depends on temp higher they grow faster, lower and it feels like it takes forever. My bottom one isn't even fully through a cycle yet but i do have little wormies, just waiting for them to grow a little more. Doing it this way lets me have worms anytime i need them (they're on different cycles).
