a few questions

With a show coming up this weekend and all of the beautiful animals on this site, my interest in these animals is very high. I've done some research and have pretty much decided I'm going to get a blood. I'd like some input on temperament. I've heard good and bad. Which type has the most intense red colors as adults? Also, I've seen a lot of variation on humidity requirements. What has worked for you? Thanks in advance...chris

Here's what I've found with my sumatran red blood;
16" in september, now 34" and heavy.
Eats 2 med f/k or f/t per week, and more just before shed time.
Sheds every 30 days, start to finish 2 weeks.
First sign of shed, dry white head scales, will not eat until shed is complete.
Temps-80-86, ambient 81. Humidity 60%-80%. higher at shed.
Active at night, hides or burrows during the day.
Soaks often, drinks alot, gets the waterdish funky(fishy) smelling and needs to be cleaned daily. Often urinates in dish.
Seldom craps, once every 2 months or more.
Handles more easily than my ball pythons, will not bite, hissed twice...
Maylasians are usually the reddest, although there are exceptions. Mine is orange to yellow...
I'm no expert, this is what I found with my specimin. Individuals vary...Hope this helps.

Sorry, she eats 2 med. F/T or F/K RATS per week. This weekend, I took out her hideboxes, which she stopped using, and have put 4" of damp sphagnum moss. The only other thing in her breeder tank is a large waterdish. She now prefers to burrow, when she was smaller, she spent all her time in her hide or moist box.

Yeah my sumatran I got in december eats a small F/K rat every week. Temps are 88 at hot spot and 78 cool side...about 81 ambient. The blood has two hides and one humid hide. Large water bowl. Even though mine rarely drinks...but isnt dehydrated at all. He is still small though...under 25 inches. Once he gets a little bigger he should change in his daily routine. Right now all he is focused on is eating and relaxin. Deficates about once a month and has shed 2 times with me.
