Komodo & other lizard photos
The Komodos were awesome at the TO Zoo today! At first only the male was where we could see him, then when we came back he was busy mounting a female. It was soooooo great!

Hey, is it true that komodo dragons like chameleons and turtles, will stay small if you keep them in a small tank?? I think I read something like that on here. My fiance and I were wanting to get one and just thought maybe we should do some research on how much we can handle them and what size of tank we should build. Any help would be appreciated, we are only new at this.

Hi um komodo gragons are endangered they WILL grow up to I think ten feet and they cost upwards of twenty grand and that before you get the zoo licence and endangered species licence. In other word for a pair of komodos you are looking at spending a 100 thousand dollars not including the WHOLE basement you would need to keep one let alone two. They also have a very high bacti count in there mouths which is powerfull enough to kill a wild boar in a couple of days. Can you amagine feeding a pair of komodos they would eat like a ffriggin gazel in a month! So unless your rich then start savin.

wow, terry_stack you are in the WRONG place to be talking like that. Why would you want to keep an endangered species improperly and contribute nothing to the conservation of the species through breeding programs?
and as far as i know, there isn't a reptile out there taht will grow to the size of its enclosure. And i can GUARANTEE you turtles definately do not.
some people's kids is right!

you honestly want to get a komodo dragon and handle it? youd have to be pretty damn strong and have some HUGE balls to handle one of them. no reptile grows according to the size of its enclosure. dont be planning on getting a komodo dragon anytime soon. theyre endangered and you probably need to own a zoo or have a special license to keep one of them.

And no turtles and chameleons do not stay the size of their tank.....neither is a Komodo...he will eventually break the damn cage.
I think you should go to the store and buy a pet rock or something first...then get a live animal

You need to talk to the ambasitor of indonesia and like I said you need atleast two licences that I know of to handle one. Oh and by the way Terry a komodo would kill and eat you in about an hour unles you got to the hospital and went on STRONG anti biotics. the reason for this is they keep bit of there prey in there mouth and it rots creating a DEADLY strand of bacteria.
Matt
PS its not all kids im only 14
