Anoles- An Overlooked Species!
WOW.....what can I say? I havent been so happy with a purchase in a long time. Dont get me wrong I simply love my Leos....but my Green Anole is so fascinating and CALM! Now I heard this is only with males but I'm not sure if its true.
They are very active, alert, and FEEDING MACHINES! I have huge crix that are larger then its head....and he ate 4 crickets and one large mealie in a sitting  And I fed him earlier as well.
Also today he was sitting on my shoulder just crawling around for a good half hour!
Does anyone else own them? They are definately something to look into in my opinion!

i had one when i was a kid-I picked him because he was the only one to sit on my hand calmly.He was fun to watch and feed.lived forever to it seemed for such a small lizard-had him for 6 yrs i think,and who knows how old he was to start with(i snuck him back from florida when i was about 13)

wow 6 years is a long time for a WC anole in captivity. you must have taken great care of him.

Ive got a great couple of adverbs that I made up well heer it goes awsome possum, sexalisios, and funkalisios. LOL

Just a suggestion. I would not feed items larger then the width between the eyes. Anything bigger give a potential for neurological problems.

I got one from a guy down the street from me. he was board of it so i took it gladly and hes great! fun to watch! but mine is still small and i never see him eat i just keep putting crickets in and there gone when i get back. Iv heard there not the greatest for holding though. iv only tryed a few times and he just ran away and jumped off my hand. oh well! i like mine would like one more just for fun!

Here is my roomates previous anole, Zippy. He lived until a ripe age of 8 years old until passing away around last year, they are entertaining fun herps to keep!

I had one. Great eater, but almost impossible to handle. Very quick and difficult to catch and definitely NOT calm when I did catch him. He got away from me once and I had a heck of a job catching him so I didn't try to handle him much after that - just had him as a pet to watch, which was entertaining, especially at feeding time. He'd snap up his first cricket before I'd finished dumping the bag into his cage. He died unexpectedly though and I never knew what caused his death. I only fed crickets and didn't dust them - now I wonder if he wasn't getting enough nutrition. (This was before I discovered the resources available on ssnakess.com!)

I am not one to preach bad husbandry but my roomates kept this anole with no UV light, on sand, nothing but a couple crickets every week and a misting once per week.....his whole 8 years. By the time they moved in with me and I started helping them out husbandry wise, Zippy was already 7 years old and my roomate was too afriad to "change anything". Reptiles are amazing resiliant creatures!
And yes, totally hard to handle these guys! lol. Impossible.

i had a pair when i was young. They were anything BUT handleable. So quick too, i was too scared to brign them out of the cage. Come to think of it, i wonder where i put them when i was cleaning the cage... Anyways, mine died unexpectedly aswell after about 10 months.
I did catch one when i went to florida, took me a few days, but it was fun. I guess i have been a herper since kindergarten!
